“Crossing the Seas” is a series of original chamber music featuring woodwind, piano, guitar, bass, percussion, and taiko drums, inspired by migration stories of her own and other Japanese immigrant mothers.

In a unique combination of traditional Japanese taiko drums and Western musical instruments, Midori Larsen, a Japanese immigrant woman composer, invites you to experience her compositions influenced by classical, jazz, and Japanese music. Inspired by the photography of Gregory Crewdson, choreographer Robert Mark Burke and composer Eric Dietz have built a world that focuses on communal bonding through desolation and confinement. “Dawned” is a multidisciplinary new work that investigates the instinctual shared experience of how isolation and grief build communities empowered to find new hope. Produced in partnership with Culture Lab, LIC, Dawning is an evening of dance consisting of Short Stuff, a series of short dances created over the last 5 years and the premiere of Dawned.
